These three drawings were created by Sixte Kakinda as part of a residency at the Makerere University Herbarium. Amaranthus Spinosus, Aspidotis Schimperi and Euphorbia Hirta are limited edition prints for sale, with partial proceeds going towards the Herbarium and 32° East.
The Herbarium is part of the Makerere University Department of Plant Science, Microbiology and Biotechnology and holds just under 100,000 specimens of plants from Uganda
The illustrations are a part of a series of 10 that will feature on the indigenous plants repository created by Future Generations Foundation supported by Newcastle University.
The platform will launch as part of Mufoka: Where Art Meets Plants, an afternoon celebrating the connections between the two.
